Exploit bisonFTP v3.5

I know, this application using direct RETN method (nonSEH)

1. Make fuzzer to make the application crash and overwrite EIP register

Open application with ollydbg and run the fuzzer


We can see on above, I'm success make the application crashes. But, I was failed to overwrite EIP register and I don't know why and I still looking for solution...

Now, I'm was found the solution for previous case. Namely I'm failed to overwritte the EIP register.
Lets start..

1. Make our fuzzer like below :

Like usually, open application with ollydbg then send the fuzzer


we can see, the EIP register and EBX register was overwritte with character x41.  EBX registers is a register that functioning as pointer to data on memory.

2. Create a pattern to search the offset, using tool on Metasploit to creating it..

see on EIP registers, we found the offset. the next is count the offset using ./pattern_offset

3. Customization the fuzzer like below :

EIP register success overwritten with \xEF\xBE\xAD\xDE so read DEADBEEF

5. Search the address that contain JMP EBX, why JMP EBX ? not JMP ESP like warFTP ? because, on the first I make the application crashes that overwrite is EBX register. Now, open application with ollydbg. then press alt+E to look module by application. In here I using hnetcfg.dll, then search the address JMP EBX on module hnetcfg.dll


See on above, the address is 662EA49B.

Custom the fuzzer with entered the JMP EBX address and write to little-endian \x9B\xA4\x2E\x66

Yes, we was success controlling JMP EBX address to EIP register

5. Generate the payload
Please using Metasploit to generate the payload, activate first then open address 127.0.0.1:55555 on your browser. After generate, put the payload on fuzzer like below :

What happen ?? application dissapear from the screen.

Then trying to telnet..

Oooowwhh.. it failed :(

let's check again what the cause of the failure of exploit.

Open again the application ollydbg, set breakpoint on JMP EBX address, then run the fuzzer
After that, Follow in dump on adress. After that right-click => Search For => Binary String


Then copy the payload on form search


We can see whether the payload go to the stack or not


See on above, all of payload succes get to stack..

Up here, I failed again to get system of windows. I'm sorry.. to be continued..

Alhamdulillah.. I found the solution from my case previously.
I change the modul to shell32.dll

 See on above, the fuzzer direct to wrong address, should direct to "CC", why ? because the payload will execute on stack "CC". so, how way that the address direct on stack "CC" ? in here I'm using JMP SHORT, this way will jump to the STACK "CC", before it we must change offset value with subtract the offset value 4bytes, because we will jump 4bytes to the stack.

Custom the fuzzer again

Exploit Elecard MPEG Player v5.7 (SEH Buffer Overflow)

Oke, this time I would to exploit an application namely Elecard MPEG Player

- Make the fuzzer like below  :

Then run the fuzzer to create the file (*.m3u), afterthat run application with ollydbg





application crashes, Then view SEH chain



press Shift+F9 to bypass to EIP register.


EIP register was overwrite

- Looking for address "Stepping Stone" that contain command POP, POP, RETN. You can look the module first that load by application via Executable Modes, I using D3DIM700.dll because I was test this file using msfpescan to looking for character 0x0400 which could lead to failure of exploit. Step to test the module I have explaines on previous case, so in here I go alone :D

Afterthat search the command POP, POP, RETN on module D3DIM700.dll


Then create a pattern and enter on fuzzer

Exploit Any Video Converter => Local Exploit (SEH Buffer Overflow)


In this time I try to exploit an application Any Video Converter Professional V 3.3.5 via local exploit.

- The first I make a fuzzer like below

Run the fuzzer to make file, and then replace on application directory. Afterthat open application with olly dbg then press Shift+F9 to see the effect

The next press Shift+F9 to overwrite EIP


- Second, looking for modules that load by application. In here I found and use DVcapture.dll. Then check the modules using msfpescan


Like the previous case, this step aimed to see if the module that contain value 0x0400 or not in module. Ok, the module can be used for stepping stone.

Then search the command POP, POP, RETN on this module.


We can see, the address not contain character 00,0a,0d.


- Next create a pattern and attach on fuzzer

Exploit EZhometech EZserver (SEH Buffer Overflow) Part.2

In this part, I will continue the step and found the solution from the previous case namely failed to telnet because the memory space is small, so the payload failed to landing.
See picture below :

On above showing, size the space memory is 236 byte, while size the shellcode is 344 bytes. Sure not enough to landing the shellcode. Therefore I need using egghunter method.

- Next test the fuzzer.

Exploit EZhometech EZserver (SEH Buffer Overflow)

OK, lets start..

- Before i start exploitation, it's good I looking for about the application and what usefullnes. 
The first, I will analyze the application with installing application and see the content


And then I run the file Ezserver6.exe and the result like below :


On above, the application showing a url contain IP address and port from application
- Before open the url on browser, we must run wireshark and click on AMD PCNE Family... that the application process is captured by wireshark.


- Next, I open the url on browser and type on form user : root password : 1234, I found the user and password from directory the application.




Click on system setting and then appears like below :


- Now Open the Wireshark and see what is captured by wireshark then right-click one of process on above and select tcp stream

Will be showing like below :


On dialog above, we was found a header from application that will entered to fuzzer.

- Make a fuzzer like below :

Open application and attach to ollydbg, then run the fuzzer


Application crashes, please view SEH chain, SE Handler was overwrite


now press Shift+F9 and ollydbg will direct to overwritte EIP register


- Now this time to search "stepping stone", namely searching address that store command POP, POP, RETN.
In here I'm found the file that processing by application namely MSVCRTD.dll. Then the next step is copying the file into /tmp on backtrack 5. If done, now do readings Dllcharacteristics using msfpescan

same as the previous discussion the command above used to ensure no value 0x0400 on the file.

The result show that MSVCRTD.dll can be used for stepping stone

Now open the application and attach to ollydbg, we will search the address that contain command POP, POP, RETN
View Executable Modules and select MSVCRTD.dll , afterthat right-click => Search For => Sequence of commands then type the command


We was found the command


Succes, the address not contain value \x00, \x0a, \x0d which can lead to failed exploit because the payload
disconnected.

- Next, create pattern as big as 5950 and enter to fuzzer

Attach application on ollydbg and run the fuzzer. then press Shift+F9 to bypass SEH


make a note of the EIP register, then using pattern_offset to searching offset value

\x41 succed entry to SEH handler, mean calculating is correct

- The next step is controlling CPU process
Enter offset address from MSVCRTD.dll that contain command POP,POP, RETN into fuzzer

Before running the fuzzer, you must activate breakpoint on SEH memory address to ensure whether the exploit are created was direct to correct address. Afterthat restart the application then activate breakpoint on 10209696 address and run the fuzzer


Then press Shift+F9 to send process into stack


In here I found a problem, namely memory space exisitng only 4 byte, and 4 byte not enough to saving shellcode, Need other process to moving location to address that have a memory space more than big. To searching the memory space right-click on address 0243FEFD => Follow In Dump => Selection.


We can see on above, in under address xCC there is free space memory start in 0243FEFD.

- Then make a shellcode
To easy process, I using Metasploit..


Generate payload :

Then enter on fuzzer :


Restart application and attach in ollydbg then run the fuzzer. application crashes, view SEH chain


Yes thats true, the fuzzer success direct to address MSVCRTD.dll

- Now open application but without ollydbg and then run the fuzzer, application crashes and disappears from the screen,  afterthat type telnet to direct to windows


Upss.. it failed, why ?? after I learned, telnet failed because the space memory smaller, so the payload not be able to landing. What solution ? I use egghunter, what is egghunter ? you can see the explanation of hunter on in here or here.
